This small quaint stadium is nestled in Silicon Valley California. Home of the San Jose Spartans football program since 1933, the stadium has remained virtually unchanged for many decades. A new stadium for the football program was needed for the Spartans in the 1930s; therefore a new facility was constructed.

The stadium was originally named after the team and the Spartans made their debut at the stadium on October 7, 1933 against San Francisco State. It originally had a seating capacity of 4,000. The stadium changed very little over its first fifty years of existence. In the 1980s the seating capacity was increased to over 30,000 to meet requirements for Division 1A status. The small upper deck was added in 1980. Five years later additional seating was added to the upper deck and in the end zones along with the addition of several luxury suites. Since that time the stadium has remained basically the same. In August 2016 San Jose State sold the naming rights to the stadium for $8.7 million to Citizens Equity First Credit Union for 15 years. Spartan Stadium was renamed CEFCU Stadium.
