The Summer Olympics are returning to Paris after 100 years and for the first time in summer Olympics history the Opening Ceremony won’t be held in a stadium. Instead, organizers are planning a floating parade of boats down the Seine River which runs through the heart of the city.

The Dog Days of a Sports Summer
It’s mid-summer and we find that the Basketball and Hockey Playoffs are over, Champions have been crowned and Football Chatter has yet to fully start. The possible teams that will be in the baseball play-offs are weeks away from being determined. The Olympics in Paris unfortunately are going to be a time zone away. So, here’s a suggestion to fill the void, and that idea is that one can always turn to the Excitement that Thoroughbred Horse Racing Delivers, especially from the historic 7-week Summer Spectacle held In Saratoga N.Y.

Jul 12th 2024

Kev thinks, it’s about European Spots entertainment right now

If you’re a sport’s watching junkie like me, then you have been paying attention to European sports this summer. Europe is presently the epicenter of sporting competitions and broadcasting. It’s really going on in Europe and London now. In England they are once again gorging themselves on strawberries and cream, Pipps and Soda and afternoon tea while the world’s top players battled it out at Wimbledon. In Germany, the tankards of beer are flowing as European national soccer teams take to the pitch (field) for the greater glory of their countrymen and their Princes and Kings. With all of this in mind we of course are staring into the face of the Summer 2024 Olympics in Paris, France slated to start in just a couple of weeks. Yes, it’s a great time if you live in Europe but maybe not so much for us mere mortals who arrive by the plane loads as tourists. But then again it’s the tourist Euro that drive the games right? By the way, Pipps and soda can be quite terrible and tasteless but it’s a thing with the Londoners, somewhat like our Mint Julep at The Kentucky Derby. A required festive cocktail. Take a sip then toss it. I’m not sure how much they get for a ticket to Wimbledon is these days, I’m thinking it’s in the hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars but barring an invite to sit in The Royal Box with The Princes and Princesses I’m sure I could never afford it. Besides I like the vibe sitting outside the court venue on the lawn and bringing my own drinks. I’m sure the conversation is a bit more pl...

Sports betting launched alongside the craps and roulette table games at the Seminole Tribe’s Hard Rock Casino Thursday afternoon in dramatic fashion. Rappers Fat Joe and Ja Rule walked up to place bets at the tables and were quickly joined by Dwyane Wade, Gloria and Emilio Estefan and rapper Rick Ross.

The three Triple Crown races had existed long before the series received its name: the Belmont Stakes was first run in 1867, the Preakness in 1873, and the Kentucky Derby in 1875.

D Wayne Lucas Trainer Seize the Grey Preakness winner

Kenneth G. McPeek trainer for Mystic Dan Kentucky Derby winner

After the Preakness Victory by Seize the Grey Mcpeek stated
I did not think Seize the Grey was a horse that could beat us,” said Kenny McPeek, trainer of runner-up Mystik Dan. “He ran great. Even on the gallop out, no one could run him down.” “It’s impossible to be disappointed about being involved with these kinds of races and to be competitive,” McPeek said.
But opposing trainers have been trying to run down Lukas for decades. He won his first Preakness with Codex in 1980, and his 15 victories in Triple Crown races rank second all-time behind Bob Baffert (17).

Dornoch pulls off upset win at the Belmont Stakes

The win gives jockey Luis Saez his second Belmont Stakes victory and trainer Danny Gargan his first. “No one believed in this horse,” trainer Gargan said in the post-race broadcast. “Those last two races are throw-outs. I told Luis you run your race, nobody’s going to beat you. ”In April’s Blue Grass race, the horse looked to be the one to beat but finished fourth after losing to the other one to beat, Sierra Leone. The
following month at the Kentucky Derby, the horse started out at a disadvantage by drawing the No. 1 post position, ending the race in the middle of the field in 10th place. "When I rode this horse here at Saratoga last year, I told
Danny, he had the Derby winner," Saez said. "Unfortunately, the Derby is a crazy race, but we had a good trip today."

A's Ballpark in Las Vegas

Las Vegas Does It Again, arguably it has become the entertainment capital of the world.

The Stadium will be located on the Las Vegas Strip, a 33,000-person capacity ballpark provides an outdoor feel with views of the city, Owners of all MLB teams unanimously approved the move.

England is the birthplace of soccer but Spain is the king, with their record fourth time as European Champions beating England 2-1.

LAS VEGAS - The Tropicana was dubbed the "Tiffany of the Strip," described as the most expensive hotel-casino built in Las Vegas when it opened with three stories and 300 rooms in 1957 at a cost of $15 million. Old timers look back and recall an era when Frank Sinatra once preformed at the Tropicana and he probably sang this song “so now that the end is near, I find it so amusing”

The new stadium on the Vegas Strip will sit on the site of the former Tropicana Hotel and Casino, it is expected to be completed for the start of the 2028 MLB season. Apparently not soon enough for the A’s owner John Joseph Fisher who since decided to let the A’s current lease at the Oakland Coliseum expire, much to the dismay of the local fans. So, instead of staying at the Coliseum, the team will spend three seasons at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento, currently the home of the San Francisco Giants' Triple-A affiliate River Cats. This interim move will bring to a close 56 years of professional baseball in Oakland, thus now leaving the city without a single major professional sports franchise for the first time since 1959.
