The NFL days

I’m not sure if anyone has noticed it other then me but college football is looking more and more like The NFL these days,  Colleges now have personnel departments, recruiting coordinators, salary caps, transfer windows and a host of other characteristics that 5 years ago would have been unheard of. Many schools are now advertising themselves as a direct avenue into the NFL thereby focusing on the tomorrow instead of the today. It’s no wonder that so many great teams with phenomenal talent fail to make the playoffs. If they stopped worrying about where Tyrese and Billy Bob where gonna go in the draft and started focusing on winning the game on Saturday the outcome might have been different come December. Just my opinion, take it or leave it.

There were a lot of broken hearts this week when the playoff committee released the final teams for the end of year college football championship. Now, before I get started I think it’s important to remember that no one in their wildest dreams thought the college playoff issues could be fixed in just one year, except maybe Trump and Elon Musk of course. Conversely, it may take several years to fine tune the process and even then I think you’ll find quite a bit of criticism. I do however feel that enlarging the process to twelve teams is a huge improvement. In the end we have to live with what it is and enjoy the games, until of course next year and they change the whole thing again. Go figure!

This year’s playoff senecio does in fact open up a new era where games will be played on college campuses nation wide and one fun fact is for certain, it’s gonna be cold. It’s also gonna be fan crazy at venues such as Notre Dame(vs.Indiana 20 Dec), Ohio State (vs.Tennessee 21 Dec) Penn State (vs. SMU 21 Dec) and Texas (vs.Clemson 21 Dec). All four of these campus football meccas can hold up to 100,000 screaming football fanatics so look for off-the-chain environments and huge excitement. Yes, dreams will be made and hearts will be broken. We might even see a coach or two get fired or resign when Ohio State gets buried by Tennessee so stay tuned. As for me I’m already taking the whole weekend off and it’s not even at the final four games yet!! (I’m also taking Tennessee and the points).

No teams have it better then the four teams that have a first round bye. Oregon, Boise State, Georgia and Arizona State all get to sit around the team meeting rooms with cold drinks, pizza and chicken wings and watch the first eight teams suffer thru the cold, sleet and snow. I haven’t seen the weather report yet but considering we’re looking at Indiana, Ohio, Texas and Pennsylvania in late December I’m guessing it will not be bikini and board short weather. Ahh yes, the dreams of the 85 degree games in The Miami Orange Bowl have been dashed. I suppose there’s a moral to the story here for teams now making the playoffs; Be careful what you wish for right?!?

No one is more excited to see the games begin then all of here at Sports Book Stuff. What’s more we have a juicy little morsel of college football excitement this weekend when Army plays Navy for The Commander In Chief’s Trophy. With both teams having standout years ( both were actually ranked in the top 25 at one point in November) I’m looking for another nail biter. With the usual appearance of The President of The United States and the rumored appearance of the next President of The United States (I think you’d literally have to tie the guy down with a chain to keep him away from this one) you can bet I’ll be watching! Just to know as well here, I’m going Army all the way in this one!! Play on I Say!!
