The Action Jackson Show Will Take On The Mahomes, Kelce, Swift Show Next Weekend

Sometimes I can’t decide which is worse. Actually loosing the game to a heated rival or having someone you dislike rub the loss in your face and getting joy from your pain. It can be a tough decision. The sting of failure can be mind numbing. One minute you’re on top of the world, the next minute you’re wondering what went wrong. All of us have been witness to these feelings during this year’s NFL playoffs, myself included. In the end we win or we lose and we get up and continue on with the game like the day before. Go Figure!

Once again The Buffalo Bills have had their season ended by Patrick Mahomes and The Kansas City Chiefs. Once again it was a hard fought close game between two elite quarterbacks filled with excitement that was a fitting Sunday night ending to an NFL playoff weekend. I almost feel sorry for Josh Allen, almost mind you. To add a little (or a lot) of insult to injury this Bills loss was in front of a rambunctious and fired up home crowd who were expecting to advance finally to the conference championship. It was not to be. Not only were The Bills forced to swallow a 27-24 loss they were then treated to Taylor Swift and The Chiefs roster (including Travis Kelce’s bother Jason) rubbing it in by waving goodbye to Buffalo as they left the field. This one is gonna hurt for a while.

Around the league there were other losses this weekend that, although similarly painful, were a bit less shocking to many of us.

The San Francisco 49ers are rolling thru the playoffs like a well oiled machine with the occasional hiccup of steam that makes you wonder how far they can actually advance. A very close 24-21 win over the surging Green Bay Packers led by Jordan Love showed all of us that the 49ers are vulnerable but in the end can squeeze out a win behind the stellar play of Wonder Boy Brock Purdy and The Real MVP Christian Mcaffrey. I’m still not convinced about San Francisco but then when have I ever been convinced about anything? In the end I suppose there are no ugly wins in a win or go home scenario. For now the boys from the Bay Area can move on but should beware of hungry wildlife! As long as number 23 can continue to carry the rock and pound away at defenders their chances are as good as anyone’s.

The Detroit Lions are moving on in the playoffs and are preparing for the conference championship game. That’s a statement that no one in sports journalism has written for some 32 years. After suffering thru some of the coldest and worst winter weather seen in decades and a playoff drought in the same length the Detroit faithful were treated to a 31-23 victory over Tampa Bay on a day that many will remember for years to come. It’s great to see an underdog become a winner. The Detroit Lions have been considered the doormat of The NFL for as long as I can remember. They were for years a Thanksgiving Day favorite for teams to play as it was a sure win to make the day a happy one. Those days are now over. The Lions will now move on to play San Francisco for a trip to, dare I say it, to The Super Bowl! With The 49ers roster beat up and bruised this might be the Lion’s year to make it happen, finally! The only thing missing from this story is a local song artist stealing the show from the VIP boxes but wait for it!!

What can one say about The Houston Texans getting man handled by The Baltimore Ravens? Even before the game was played The Texan’s season was a huge success. A rookie head coach and a rookie quarterback have never won a playoff game before CJ Stroud and Demeco Ryans showed up on the scene. I’m expecting big things from this team. Although a loss to The Ravens 34-10 sent them home for the season this team is lean and hungry. A strong, healthy roster that is obviously well led will go far in the coming years. For their part, The Baltimore Ravens look like the one team that can actually go the distance and hoist The Lombardi Trophy. Can they beat Kansas City next week? Will they survive a Patrick Mahomes onslaught? We’ll have to wait and see. For now I suppose we’ll all have to suffer thru another week of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift highlights before we get to see Lamar Jackson send them home packing!

All in all it was a great playoff weekend. My picks for winners didn’t do as well as I would have liked but the competition and the excitement was well worth the losses I took. I didn’t get much sleep and I didn’t get much work done but who cares right? It’s playoff season!! Play on I Say!!
