LET’S HEAR YOUR STORY
Canadian hockey fans are very unique. Natalie Morris went out onto the ice at Scotiabank Arena ready to sing the American national anthem before Monday night's game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Buffalo Sabres. The only issue was that her microphone was broken.
Morris was promptly given another microphone, which likewise did not work, putting her in a tight predicament. But it didn't take long for fans to notice the problem and take matters into their own hands, with the audience of more than 18,000 joining in to sing the United States national anthem, providing a unique moment before puck drop.
Shortly later, the technological troubles were resolved, allowing Morris to sing the National anthem without interruption.
The Sabres, the only major sports organization to do so, play the Canadian anthem before each of their home games, therefore it seemed natural that Buffalo was Toronto's opponent during this unexpected episode.
On the ice, Toronto's skaters had a productive first 40 minutes and entered the final frame with a 2-1 lead, but Buffalo stormed back in the final frame, outscoring the Leafs 3-1 en route to a crucial 4-3 victory for the Sabres, who are still clinging to life in the Eastern Conference wild-card race.
