It’s almost that time of the year for the win or go home college basketball spectacle we all love

If there was ever an excellent example of “Win and you’re in-loose and you go home” tournament it’s the NCAA championship tournament that is held every year in the month of March. For most of us it’s called March Madness. For about three weeks the games live up to their name and the hype. It’s insane. It can be a crazy time where basketball dreams are made and hearts are broken. A team’s entire season can hang in the balance. You can be a sub 500 team and still win it all. You can be undefeated and loose the season of a life time with just one defeat. Yes, its that easy. Your collegiate legacy can come down to one missed free throw, one made three point shot. Win or loose The NCAA Tournament is competition in its purest form and every American loves it. I’ve seen entire states shut down during game time, grown men and woman shedding tears, beer cans flung at televisions and BBQ’s thrown over the fence all over a win or a loss by kids in college. Crazy right? That’s why they call it March Madness!

This year of course will be no different from years gone past when it comes to March Madness. With selection Sunday just a few days away we’re gonna see who the final teams will be. Many teams, regardless of regular season record, get into the tournament by winning their respective conference championships. Other teams are placed by the “committee “ and we all know what that means right?. Its not exactly like college football but it’s close, sort of. Teams from the Sunbelt conference and Ivy League, to name just a couple, will get a chance to play against the power house teams from The SEC, Big Ten and ACC. A virtual grab bag of basketball contention will start the tournament off with teams like Mount Saint Mary’s playing Auburn or Wake Forrest. Initially the small no names will be seeded against the big boys, but rest assured there will be upsets. Every year there are top seeds in the 1,2 or three spots that fall to the teams in the 13,14 and 15 slots. To say it can interesting is an understatement! It’s exciting! Being someone who always roots for the underdog I absolutely love it and I’m sure you will too!

This year I’m hoping that the woman’s game gets as much attention ss the men’s game. With college super stars like Paige Beuckers(UConn)nd JuJu Watkins (USC) as well as a host of other top talent in the mix the woman’s game is sure to be as exciting as the men’s. You can bank in it!

Speaking of banking, I’ve never really won anything in March Madness. Sure, I’ll fill out my bracket with my friends and co workers but rarely do I leave the tournament with any cash. Picking a winning bracket can be tough. There is so much emotion involved, so much hype that it can be hard to to select more then half the winners. In the end you’re hoping that your four final four teams survive but it’s rare for me. I just enjoy the emotion and the competition! How can you not?!?

Look for my final four picks in my podcast the weekend. I might be able to pick the all but I can surely give it that ‘Ol College try right? Play on I Say!!
