The Guardians won their third extra-innings game of the 2023 season Wednesday afternoon, defeating the Oakland A's 6-4. Will Brennan drove in the game-winning run with a fielder's choice in the top of the 10th, and Steven Kwan made it 6-4 with an RBI single. Emmanuel Clase made the save in a comeback appearance after blowing a save early in the series. Hunter Gaddis, the Guardians' (5-2) opening pitcher, allowed just one hit and two walks in six perfect innings. Rookie Tim Herrin, who made the Opening Day squad after Sam Hentges was injured, gave up a three-run home run to former Cleveland first baseman Jesus Aguilar in the eighth inning.
