Abbotsford Canucks Sign Sammy Blais

The Abbotsford Canucks have signed forward Sammy Blais to a one-year deal, the team announced Thursday.Along with the contract, Blais will attend Vancouver Canucks training camp after signing a professional try-out. A product of Montmagny, Que., Blais spent last season playing for the St. Louis Blues were he had one goal and six assists for seven points in 53 regular season games. Drafted by the Blues in the sixth round of the 2014 NHL Draft, Blais has played in 257 career NHL regular season games, accumulating 27 goals and 44 assists for 71 points. Prior to turning pro in 2016, Blais played junior hockey in the QMJHL with the Victoriaville Tigres and the Charlottetown Islanders. As Blais gets set to attend Canucks training camp, he could very well find himself able to win a spot out of camp. While he had a down year offensively last season compared to 2022-23, Blais has proven to be a valuable depth piece at the NHL level and could fill that role well with the Canucks if he is able to prove himself.
